New members:
would you like to sing renaissance and contemporary music, and many other genres, in a small friendly choir? We're always pleased to hear from singers who would like to join us, who have light flexible voices and preferably with good sight-reading ability. We usually find our soloists from within our own ranks, so that potential is also welcome. Our usual policy is to invite would-be members to sing with us for a few rehearsals before taking an informal audition (usually a prepared piece, some sight-reading, and a range test).
When & where:
we rehearse in the Clothworkers Centenary Concert Hall (which has a superb warm & responsive acoustic) in the School of Music at the University of Leeds (see map to the right) on Tuesdays between 7.30pm and 9.30pm with a break in the middle. There is some car parking around the School of Music (though now there's a charge - about £3 per rehearsal). Other possibilities are St Mark's Street etc off Woodside Lane where The Eldon pub is, and Cromer Street etc off Lifton Place off Clarendon Road, from which you walk down through past the Union etc. Leeds Central Rail Station is about 1 mile, 20 minutes away on foot .
If you would like to take this further please contact the choir as indicated below.
Hiring & partnerships:
we are also available for hire for concerts and other events (e.g. charity performances) within reach of Leeds, and we are always interested in the possibility of exchanges, visits and collaborations.
In recent years we've sung for Martin House, Marie Curie Cancer Care and the Churches Conservation Trust, with the Skipton Camerata, the West Yorkshire Symphony Orchestra and the Clothworkers Consort of Leeds, and at Left Bank Leeds, Bede's World Museum in Jarrow, the George Gilbert Scott designed All Souls for Treasures Revealed, and the church at Harewood House.
